my friends
always tell me that i’m one of their main sources on movies, what they
should watch, what they really should have seen already and mostly, what movies
they should be waiting impatiently. so i thought i’d pass a piece of my endless
movie knowledge to you too. here’s my top 10 Most Anticipated Movies right now.
note! the premiere
dates are for Finland only, most movies
come to Finland quite late, so some of these might already be on your local
theater.
1. 30 Minutes or Less
Who: directed by Ruben Fleischer
(Zombieland), starring Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) andAziz Ansari
(Parks and Recreation).
What: Two criminals kidnap a pizza delivery guy
and strap a bomb on his chest, forcing him to rob a band in the next nine hours
or they will blow him up.
Why:
because of the hilarious cast, original idea and the fact that
Zombieland was pretty awesome.
2. 50/50
Who: starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Inception)
and Seth Rogen (Knocked Up).
What: a
story of 27 years old Adam who is diagnosed with a rare form of spiral cancer
and has 50% chance of surviving. With the help of his best friend, mother and a
young therapist he learns what and who the most important things in his life
are.
Why: a
comedy about cancer, that’s bold! it seems like such a real and heartwarming
movie. Joseph is always amazing and Seth makes and odd pair for him, which
might just be perfect.
3. The Art of
Getting By
Who: starring Emma Roberts (It’s Kind of a Funny Story) and Freddie
Highmore (Charlie and The Chocolate Factory).
What: George
is a lonely teen who has made it to his senior year without ever having done a
real day of work. He becomes friends with Sally, a girl who is popular but
complicated and sees a kindred spirit in him.
Why: because
Emma is adorable, and don’t you just wanna see how that little boy from Charlie
and the Chocolate Factory and Finding Nemo suddenly just grew up!

4. Restless
Who: directed by Gus Van Sant (Milk),
starring Mia Wasikowska (The Kids Are Alright) and Henry Hopper.

Who: starring Anton Yelchin (Star Trek)
and Felicity Jones.
What: a
British college student falls for an American boy and is forced to be separated
from him when she gets banned from USA after overstaying her visa.
Why: I’m weak for painfully realistic love
stories.
6. We Need to
Talk About Kevin
Who: starring Tilda Swinton (Michael
Clayton), John C. Reilly (Magnolia) and Ezra Miller.
What: A
mother of a teenage boy who went on a high-school killing spree tries to deal
with her grief and feeling of being resbonsible by her sons actions by writing

on an amazing book by Lionel Shiver this is just a must see.
7. J. Edgar
Who: directed by Clint Eastwood (Million
Dollar Baby), starring Leonardo DiCaprio (Inception), Armie Hammer (The Social
Network) and Naomi Watts (21 Grams).
What: a
biographical film about FBI director J. Edgar Hoover
Why: everything
FBI related fascinates me, especially the history of the Bureau and I’m also
interested how this movie examines Hoover’s alleged homosexuality.
A Puppeteers Journey
Who: Kevin Clash (Sesame Street)
What: a documentary
about Kevin Clash, the puppeteer behind beloved Elmo.
Why: documentaries
are my new love, and every year I try to see at least half a dozen new,
exciting documentaries and Being Elmo seems like such an inspirational and
touching story.
Trailer |IMDB | Premiere date hasn’t been
released yet (keep next year’s Docpoint documentary movie festival in mind!).
9. Contagion
Who: directed by Steven Soderbergh
(Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve & Thirteen), starring Kate Winslet (The Reader),
Matt Damon (Will Hunting) and Jude Law (Cold Mountain).
What: International
team of doctor try to deal with the outbreak of a deadly disease.
Why: there are many movies like these and usually
they just repeat them selves, they always interest me cause I’m into all things
Science Fiction, but often disappoint me. what interests me about this movie is
the amazing cast. Kate Winslet has never done a bad movie, and I trust her for
not doing that now either.
Who: directed by Stephen Daldry (The
Hours, Billy Elliot, The Reader), starring Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump) and Sandra
Bullock (The Blind Side).
What: A
nine year old boy founds a mysterious key that used to belong to his father who
was killed by 9/11. the boy starts searching for the lock that matches the key.
Why: Daldry
is one of my favorite directors, he makes beautiful movies with heartwarming
characters and he always makes me cry, and when I watched this trailer, teary-eyed,
I knew I needed to see this as soon as I can.
do you have any movies you are dying to see?
