A long time ago we used to be friends // 5 tv-shows that I think should be made into movies.

I just saw the long anticipated Veronica Mars movie and it was everything I dreamed of. And of course the movie made me think of other tv-shows that I really wish would be made into movies.

Now I’m not one of those people who get excited whenever there’s a new rumor about Friends reunion (which seems to be like every other month). No, I believe that brilliantly ended shows should not be messed with. I mean, who can say they truly enjoyed those Sex and the City movies?! I personally am still not over the fact that they broke up Samantha and Smith! It was unacceptable, but not the worst part of those disastrous films, but let’s not get into that right now.

But sadly, there are plenty of shows that ended prematurely or without the ending that the show and the viewers truly deserved. These are the five tv-shows that I think should be made into movies. And if they ever were to get their own Kickstarter campaigns I’d be like here’s all my money, take it!

Gilmore Girls (2000 - 2007)

Why there should be a movie:
Although the final episode gave us some closure and Lorelai and Luke finally ended up together it was still not the satisfying ending that I and so many others wanted. I’m still angry that the writers wasted the last season of the show keeping Lorelai and Luke apart, or that they even broke up at all. I need to see them happily together and that one final kiss was definitely not enough.

What would happen in the movie:
Well Lorelai and Luke would be married, obviously. Grown up Rory would be conquering the world. Stars Hollow residents would still be wonderfully weird. Maybe Kirk would be a father to a little Kirk. Imagine it, Mr. and Mrs. Kirk (also known as Lulu), Kirk the Cat and Kirk Jr.!

Of course Emily and Richard would still be Emily and Richard and there would still be Friday night dinners. Maybe Emily and Lorelai would finally forgive each other. Of course, before they would get there we would need to get into a classic Gilmore-style family fight!

And who knows, maybe Rory would be ready to settle down. Although contrary to the popular opinions, I really wouldn't want to see her ending up with any of her previous boyfriends. Let’s face it, none of those relationships were exactly healthy. I want Rory to find someone completely new.

Joan of Arcadia (2003 - 2005)

Why there should be a movie:
This was incredibly clever and heartwarming teenage drama! It was what made me fall in love with the amazing Amber Tamblyn, who is still my favorite person ever! Joan of Arcadia only got two seasons and the last season ended with such an infuriating cliff-hanger that I might never get over it. The last few episodes were such brilliant build-ups toward the third season that never came. I really need to know how Joan and her ‘army’ conquered Ryan Hunter.

What would happen in the movie:
It could be a bit tricky to continue with the story line that was set out at the end of season two since the cast has aged but I’m not sure I would care.

Of course the movie could show that story line in flashbacks and the major plot could deal with slightly older Joan and her gang. That way the people in their thirties wouldn't have to pretend to be teenagers all through the movie and maybe the age thing wouldn't get annoying.

And of course, Joan and Adam would either be back together or would end together during the film. I really don’t even care so much what would happen in the movie, I just want more and I want a closure. And I want more awesome and creative God incarnations!

Freaks and Geeks (1999 - 2000)

Why there should be a movie:
What is it with brilliant teenage dramas getting cancelled before their time?! There are like a million tv-shows targeted to teenagers and most of them are absolutely awful. It feels like if a show is smart, relatable, funny with real, talented cast it has no way to make it. It really doesn’t get more clever or intelligent than Freaks and Geeks and yet this show only saw one season on our tv-screens. I’m not super disappointed with the ending, I think they tied it up as well as they could, but I’m just so sad that tv-show this good has such a short life-span.

What would happen in the movie:
Another show that has the problem of the aging cast, but with Freaks and Geeks I wouldn’t mind a little jump in time. Maybe it would be the 90’s and we would see how the Freaks and the Geeks deal with their early adulthood. Whatever it would be, I know Jude Apatow and Paul Feig would make it brilliant.

My So-Called Life (1994 - 1995)

Why there should be a movie:
Yet another clever and original teenage drama that was cancelled only after its first season. It might just be nostalgia, but I love everything 90’s and My So-Called Life was one of the greatest things that that decade ever produced, and I really want to see more of those angsty 90’s teenagers.

What would happen in the movie:
Could we just pretend that most of the cast is not in their late 30’s and early 40’s and pick up where the show left off?! I want to see Claire Danes with every cool 90’s haircut and fashion trend that there is and Jared Leto is still just as dreamy. He may be 43 but in my mind he will always be Jordan Catalano. And I really need my closure for the Jordan Catalano & Angela Chase love story. And of course, I want some more Ryanne and Rickie!

Friday Night Lights (2006 - 2011)

Why there should be a movie:
This is the only show on the list that actually had a satisfying ending, but I still want more, I mean I would watch a full movie with Coach Taylor just giving his classic Coach Taylor speeches!

What would happen in the movie:
I honestly don’t care, for a s long as we would get all the old Dillon Panthers on the field for one more time. Perhaps it could be some kind of celebratory game.

Tim Riggins would be hangover, yet absolutely brilliant. Jason Street would be in the sidelines, cheering his friends to the obvious victory. Matt Saracen would be a little rustic since he doesn’t have time for football being a great young artist and all. Landry Clarke would be surprisingly good, though. Smash Williams would be the pro-player killing it on the field.

And of course, the wonderful women of FNL would be there too, Tyra Colette being graduated at the top of her class. Lyla Garrity would still kick ass as a cheerleader. Julie Taylor would be Mrs. Saracen and maybe found her place in the world.

Buddy Garrity would of course be sponsoring the whole shebang.

And the Taylors would be just like they always were, the most amazing married couple on television. And the movie would end with Coach Taylor saying the magic words for the very last time;

Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can’t Lose.

Previously this blog has focused on my life and on my photography, mostly, but this is going to change. I’m planning on doing a lot more writing on this blog; opinions, ideas, tv-show, movie and book reviews. You name it. Stay tuned.

we belong here, we belong here. (creative stuff)

i made pretty vague new years 'resolutions', so this is not one, but i still want to make more stuff. above are some of the very few things i did last year. i used to paint and keep a creative journal and do my Wreck This Journal a lot more but now i almost never do. and i want to do more, it's fun and it just makes me happy.

few days ago i watched John & Hank Green perform at Carnegie Hall in an event called An Evening of Awesome (it's long, like two and half hours but it's awesome, i recommend you to watch it. i cired like the whole way through). one of the special guests there was Neil Gaiman and he said something about writing that i think applies to everything we ever aspire to do.
Finish things and get on with the next one. You’ll learn more from a glorious failure than from something you’ve never finished.
so i want to do more stuff. and also finish them. like my NaNoWriMo, i'm not sure if i ever mentioned it but i did become NaNo-winner, reached little over 50 000 words and i was just so surprised and happy. it was my first year after all. but the thing is, my novel is still yet to be finished, i think i'm about half way through, maybe a little more, so i really want to get on with it and finish it this year, preferably before it's time to start planning this years novel.

so, maybe, hopefully you will see some more creative stuff here this year. and maybe some you have also felt stuck (i guess we all do) with your creative aspirations so here are some awesome creative people to inspire you:

Rocketrictic's Tumblr - she makes awesome paintings with quatations.
Neil Gaiman's Tumblr - well, it's Neil Gaiman!
Sierra Demulder's Tumblr - one of most amazing poets of our time.
Kyle Thompson's Flickr - a talented young photographer.
Laraine's YouTube - my new favorite YouTuber.

now, go make stuff!

all that love, all those mistakes, what else can a poor man make.

Elsie of A Beautiful Mess Blog recently shared a very amazing photography tutorial she learned from her friend Sara of Arrow and Apple photography. It's a free-lensing technique that allows you to create tilt-shift effects with your regular lens. You can find the tutorial here. like Elsie said, it's quite hard, but really fun. today i noticed that one of our apple trees is just about to bloom, and i picked my camera and went outside to try this new technique. here are few of the shots i took, and yeah, it was a lot harder than i expected, but i'm definitely gonna practice it more.

March 4, 2012

i need freedom now, and i need to know how to live my life as it's meant to be.

Jupiter's my favorite planet. why yes, i have a favorite planet. right now you can see it very clearly on the night sky, close to Venus (Venu's the brightest one) and at the end of March, Moon will join them. Here are few things why i really Love Jupiter.

  • Jupiter's the biggest planet in our Solar System. It's mass is 2.5 times the mass of all the planets in our Solar System combined.
  • It's been known since prehistoric times.
  • Jupiter has 64 moons that we know of.
  • 4 of it's biggest moons were discovered by Galileo Galilei in 1610. They are called Galilean Moons.

  • The names of Galilean Moons compere from Zeus' lovers; Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto.
  • Jupiter has the biggest hurricane of our Solar System, that's called Great Red Spot.
  • Great Red Spot is over two times as wide as the diameter of The Earth.
  • Jupiter was named after a Roman God.
  • Jupiter has a great gravitation force and it's the second most significant object in our Solar System, after the Sun.
  • Besides the Earth, Jupiter's our most studied planet.
I think Jupiter's mesmerising, and that Galilean Moons are one of the most beautiful objects in our Solar System. and i really encourage everyone to study our night sky, just look up and find the world surrounding us, that makes us so small, yet so big at the same time. you can get Lost in the night sky, but it's the good kind of lost.

also hi! i haven't disappeared, tho my camera has been collecting dust and i'm not even sure where all the time has gone. right now my life is all about books, books at work (Library work. loving it tho!) books i read for pleasure (recent reads; The Great Gatsby, Room, Bang Ditto, reviews coming later). and books i read for studying, i'm applying to universities to study English, so basically, i just read. but that's a great thing, reading.

for us who celebrate Christmas, this week is probably one of the busiest time of the year. but you still should  try to remember to relax a bit too. and what better way to do that, than to watch a movie that will get you into the Holiday spirit.

i hope you enjoy the movies and this wonderful Holiday Season!

December 7, 2011

rockin around the christmas tree!

i'm very deeply in Love with both music & christmas, two things that go very well together. i'm the person who starts listening to christmas records after Halloween, and i never complain about how radio stations and stores start to play christmas music from mid-November, no, i just get really happy, joyful and in the Christmas Spirit with the amazing christmas music! so i thought i'd share some of my favorite Christmas Records with you, so here's 5 of my Favorite Christmas Records:

Michael Buble: Christmas
My favorite Canadian released a wonderful christmas album this fall. it's warm and sincere, you can hear that Mr. Bublé really Loves the holidays. Consists such traditional songs as White Christmas and Silent night and also a new song called Cold December Night, written by the man himself.

The Hotel Café presents Winter Songs

Absolutely one of my favorite Christmas albums of all time, has various songs from traditional songs to more modern ones performed by such artists as Fiona Apple, KT Tunstall and Meiko.

Bing Crosby: Merry Christmas

a classic that always gets me into the Holiday Spirit! White Christmas sang by Crosby is my all time favorite Chrismtas Song, it's magical.

A Very She & Him Christmas

this album could also be called A Very Indie Christmas, so this album is for you who are not into the most traditional type of Christmas, or who want something new and different. the songs maybe traditional and familiar, but sang by these two very unique, lovely personalities, they're fresh and fun!

Bob Dylan: Christmas in the Heart

in 2009 i got a very special Birthday Present from Mr. Dylan himself, when he released this amazing Christmas Album on my birthday (yes, clearly he did it for me. a girl can dream). and ever since i have loved this album, Bob's voice just works with all the songs, this is what i listen to when i wanna be totally calm and relaxed. i also Love the fact that all Dylan's royalties will go for charity, to help the homeless & hungry. i read an intervied where Bob said  christmas is so worldwide and everybody can relate to it in their own way. and that's what christmas has always been for me, making it my own kind of Holiday.

i hope you'll enjoy these tunes and i'd love to know What are your favorite Christmas Records/songs? stay tuned for my Best Movies to Watch during the Holidays -list!

10 Most Anticipated Movies

my friends always tell me that i’m one of their main sources on movies, what they should watch, what they really should have seen already and mostly, what movies they should be waiting impatiently.  so i thought i’d pass a piece of my endless movie knowledge to you too.  here’s my top 10 Most Anticipated Movies right now.
